WHY PBT IS OUR CHOICE OF LASH MATERIAL

Posted by Brooke Wright on

This week, I would like to explain why 'PBT' is our choice of lash material.

But first, what is PBT?

Here comes the science!

PBT (polybutylene terephthalate), is a synthetic semi-crystalline engineered thermoplastic. A high-performance material, it has a high molecular weight and a reputation for being a strong, flexible and resistant plastic.

Our lashes benefit from these advantages.

PBT creates natural looking lashes with a gorgeous soft and glossy sheen which doesn’t lose its curl. Not only this, but PBT causes the least chance of an allergic reaction on human skin compared with all other eyelash extension materials.

While you might not have heard of PBT lashes, you will probably have come across silk or faux mink lashes, which are names the manufacturers have come up with to make PBT sound more appealing.

Silk

Silk Lashes are shaped to resemble the bend of your natural eyelash. These are a mid-weight type of lash extensions, and are finer and more flexible than the synthetic blend. Because they are softer and more porous, their retention is slightly better than the synthetic ones.

These Extensions Have A Much Shorter Taper Than Mink Lashes - Meaning The Body Of The Lash Stays Thicker For Longer. This helps the eyelash look more full and natural.

Silk lashes come in a variety of curls and lengths, though are a better option for a more natural look, as the curl is not generally as uniform or as artificial as synthetic lashes. They are a deep black in colour and tend to be a more glossy finish.

As they are lighter in weight, they are often a much better option for your lashes if your own ones are weak or fine.

Faux Mink

Faux mink lashes are designed to mimic the look and feel of real mink lashes. The taper is typically started lower down on the lash giving the extension a natural look and feel.

They are very fine, soft and silky, just like real fur. Unlike their real mink inspirations, faux mink lashes maintain their curl due to the double-heated process that the durable PBT material is treated with.

Faux Mink Lashes are very long lasting with good care, and are great if your own lashes are fine and delicate. Because they are so light, they don’t tend to drop or twist, even after many weeks of wear.

Unfortunately, Both types of lashes can vary quite dramatically in quality through different suppliers. Which is why it is important to ensure your supplier is reputable and consistent with quality control.

The reason why we will never use or sell real mink lashes is that we are against animal cruelty. There is also no need to use the potentially allergenic, poor performing mink when PBT offers such superior advantages.

Quality products are our primary concern and I hope that this shows why we would never use anything other than PBT for our extensions.

In conclusion, all our lashes are made from high-quality PBT which means they:

- Are soft to touch

- Are long-lasting and flexible

- Have high bonding power

- Keep their curl

So, what are you waiting for? Order yours now!

Have a wonderful weekend lovelies!
